Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath is a British band formed in Birmingham in 1968 and widely regarded as the inventors of heavy metal.

With their debut "Black Sabbath" (1970) and albums like "Paranoid" and "Master of Reality", Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward created an entirely new kind of darkness and weight — Iommi's down-tuned riffs became the genre's DNA. On 5 July 2025 the original line-up played their farewell concert at Villa Park in Birmingham; Ozzy Osbourne died a few weeks later.
