Four Years, Four Volumes, One Album — The Plot In You Close Out Their Experiment
Instead of a conventional album, the Americans have been dropping songs in batches of three since 2022. On Friday the result arrived as a self-titled record — with two previously unheard tracks.

In October 2022 The Plot In You put a song online, "Divide", and kept following it with three tracks at a time. Four volumes, spread across almost four years, with no clear sense of where it was heading. Since Friday it is clear: put together, they make a self-titled album, released on 10 July via Fearless Records.
Twelve songs are on it, ten of them already familiar. New are "You Get One" and the closer "Carved" — the latter a quiet, melodic sign-off that brackets the whole thing. Anyone who heard the volumes separately hears them differently now: the songs follow the same pattern throughout — furious and aggressive at the start, sad and melancholic by the end. As a collection it hangs together better than the drip-feed strategy suggested it might.
The numbers back the band up. "Left Behind" alone has passed 80 million Spotify streams; the volumes together more than 260 million. For a metalcore band from Ohio who began in 2010 with raw deathcore, that is a remarkable curve.
The band's sixth album pulls four years of volume releases together — twelve tracks, including the new songs "You Get One" and "Carved".
