Nickelback – Mike Kroeger Confirms Sale of 80 Percent of Music Catalog

Nickelback bassist Mike Kroeger has confirmed that the band sold around 80 percent of its music catalog a few years ago. Speaking with radio host Abe Kanan (Audacy), Kroeger discussed the trend of artists handing over their publishing and master rights.

When Kanan noted that the Nickelback catalog „has to be worth“ at least 200 million dollars, Kroeger did not put a figure on it. He described the sale itself as a „peculiar and interesting process“ and did not say who acquired the rights.

Nickelback rank among the most commercially successful rock bands of the 2000s. Selling off large parts of the catalog joins a wave of similar deals in which established acts cash in on their back catalogs.
