Mastodon is an American metal band formed in Atlanta in 2000. The quartet of singer-bassist Troy Sanders, guitarists Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher and drummer Brann Dailor shaped the progressive wing of modern metal with albums such as "Leviathan" (2004) and "Crack the Skye" (2009).
"Blood Mountain" and "The Hunter" brought the band a wider audience, and in 2018 they won a Grammy. Following the split with guitarist Brent Hinds and his death in the summer of 2025, Mastodon now performs as a five-piece.
