Mastodon Announce „Marrow Deep" – First Album Without Brent Hinds
The prog metallers release their ninth album on August 28 and lead with the single „Snakes For Dinner" featuring Josh Homme – their first record as a five-piece.
Mastodon have announced their ninth studio album. "Marrow Deep" arrives on August 28, 2026 via Loma Vista Recordings and is the first Mastodon album without founding guitarist Brent Hinds. Hinds left the band in early 2025 and died in August 2025 after a motorcycle crash in Atlanta.
The record is led by the single "Snakes For Dinner" and its video. Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age guests on vocals — the first time the two have worked together since Mastodon's 2006 album "Blood Mountain", which also featured a Homme guest spot. On the new album, Mastodon perform as a five-piece for the first time.
Bassist and singer Troy Sanders said he, guitarist Bill Kelliher and drummer Brann Dailor are glad to be able to continue, and that the new members are thrilled to be on board. "Marrow Deep" follows 2021's "Hushed and Grim".
"Marrow Deep" is Mastodon's ninth studio album, due on August 28, 2026. It is the first record after the split with guitarist Brent Hinds and his death in the summer of 2025 — and the first on which the band appears as a five-piece. Kurt Ballou is among the producers. Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age guests on vocals on the single "Snakes For Dinner".
