Defects bring Matt Heafy on board — album „Artificial Icons" due in October
The British metalcore band announce their new album for 16 October. Trivium frontman Matt Heafy guests on the single „Signs".

Trivium's Matt Heafy is turning up everywhere lately — now with UK band Defects. The singer guests on their new single „Signs".
„Signs" is the first cut from „Artificial Icons", the new album out 16 October 2026 via Mascot Records. It was produced by Jim Pinder, who has worked with Bring Me The Horizon and Sleep Token. On the record, vocalist Tony Maue tackles homelessness, addiction and social coldness — he says he wants to write songs that matter and make people think.
The album builds on 2024's „Modern Error", which drew on Maue's time in the foster care system. Alongside Maue and guitarist James Threadwell, the line-up now includes Orlando Morris-Winmill (guitar) and Rowan Jack (drums).
„Artificial Icons" is the forthcoming album from British metalcore band Defects, out 16 October 2026 via Mascot Records. It was produced by Jim Pinder (Bring Me The Horizon, Sleep Token). The advance single „Signs" features Matt Heafy of Trivium.
