Anthrax Are Back — Video for The Edge Of Perfection, Album Due in September
Ten years after 'For All Kings', the twelfth Anthrax album arrives on 18 September. The second single is out — and Scott Ian simply calls it the best song of the band's career.
The longest break of their career is over: on 18 September, Anthrax release "Cursum Perficio", their twelfth studio album and their first since 2016's "For All Kings". It was recorded at Dave Grohl's Studio 606 in Los Angeles and produced by Jay Ruston together with the band; Nuclear Blast handles Europe, Megaforce the US.
The second single, "The Edge Of Perfection", is out now, accompanied by an elaborate video from Academy Award winner Joel Harlow that blends narrative footage with live performance. The song opens unusually quietly with clean guitars before blast beats kick the door in — considerably more atmospheric and dynamic than the band's usual fare.
Scott Ian is not sparing with superlatives: for him it is the best song Anthrax have ever written and the best thing he has ever been creatively involved in. He wrote it about his family. The album title, meanwhile, comes from a stone plaque in Marilyn Monroe's former home: "Cursum Perficio" — my journey has come to an end. Drummer Charlie Benante, who spotted the phrase while watching a documentary, stresses that it should not be read as an announcement of retirement.
The twelfth studio album by the thrash legends and their first in ten years — recorded at Dave Grohl's Studio 606 and produced by Jay Ruston. The Latin title translates roughly as: my journey has come to an end.
