King Ultramega Honor Chris Cornell With „Birth Ritual"

King Ultramega are sticking to their mission. The Chris Cornell tribute project has re-recorded „Birth Ritual", a song that first appeared on the soundtrack to the 1992 film „Singles" – performed by Soundgarden, with Cornell on vocals.

Matt Cameron returns on drums, having played the song back then and appeared in the film itself. Lzzy Hale of Halestorm takes lead vocals, her bandmate Joe Hottinger plays guitar, and bassist and project leader Mark Menghi ties it together. The single arrived a day after Cornell's birthday.

Menghi has laid out the idea behind King Ultramega: the project works through Cornell's whole career – across albums, bands and solo records – but never uses more than one song per release. „Birth Ritual" is already the second collaboration with a Soundgarden member, following guitarist Kim Thayil's work on „The Day I Tried To Live".
