On July 5, 2026, Metallica closed their M72 world tour at London Stadium. The band ended the night with a tribute to Black Sabbath and to Ozzy Osbourne, who died in 2025.

During their joint improvisation segment, the "Kirk and Rob Doodle", guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo played Black Sabbath's "Electric Funeral" and blended it with the Sex Pistols' "Holiday in the Sun". Trujillo held up a sign reading "Do It For Ozzy".

"Ozzy, we love you and we miss you, brother," Trujillo told the crowd, according to reports. He noted that the evening marked exactly one year since "Back to the Beginning", the Birmingham festival at which Osbourne performed for the last time in July 2025. The Black Sabbath singer died a few weeks later.

Metallica themselves had played the "Back to the Beginning" festival in 2025. Their M72 tour had run for two years since 2023.
