Protest the Hero Release New Album „Within"
Protest the Hero are back with „Within", their first album in six years and the first they fully own.
Protest the Hero have put out their first album since „Palimpsest" (2020). „Within" landed on 17 July 2026 – and it is the first record the Canadians fully own, released through their own imprint Sheet Happens Publishing.
The band's progressive metal is as intricate as ever, but the lyrics turn inward. Singer Rody Walker calls „Within" the most personal material in their catalogue, built around how outside forces shape our inner lives. Lead single „Mouthpiece", with a video by Troy Maher, is the exception, pulling back to look at the bigger political picture.
Guitarist Tim MacMillar frames the album as a statement: for the first time the musicians own their work outright. „Within" was tracked with the familiar core of Walker, MacMillar, guitarist Luke Hoskin and bassist Arif Mirabdolbaghi.
