Plagiarism Claim Against Arch Enemy — Band Publishes 2022 Demos as Counter-Evidence

Kiko Loureiro sees parallels between his song 'Talking Dreams' and Arch Enemy's single 'To The Last Breath'. The Swedes hit back with 'The Original Files' — demo recordings said to be two years older.

A dispute that began as a jab on social media has grown into a serious clash. Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro — known from Angra and Megadeth — publicly pointed out similarities between his 2024 track "Talking Dreams" and the Arch Enemy single "To The Last Breath", posting a side-by-side comparison clip. According to media reports, a formal copyright claim via his lawyer followed.

Arch Enemy firmly reject the accusation. Under the title "The Original Files" the band released a video said to show early demo versions from 2022 — that is, from before Loureiro's song came out. The band points to its extensive documentation of the creative process; demos, drafts and iterations, they say, establish the timeline unambiguously.

Guitarist and main songwriter Michael Amott addressed his colleague directly: he had the melody back in 2022, two years before Loureiro's song was released, and any similarities are purely coincidental. Manager and former singer Angela Gossow took issue above all with the public route — anyone with a genuine concern should seek a conversation rather than posting on social media.

A legal resolution is still pending; both the allegations and the rebuttal remain the positions of the respective sides. Either way, "To The Last Breath" marks the start of a new chapter for Arch Enemy: it is the first recording with singer Lauren Hart, who succeeded Alissa White-Gluz.
